I only caught some of it, the remote was on my bed, I was on my computer working on a research paper. At one point Colbert is mimmicking a handgun with his hands, and asks someone in the audience about whether newspapers should have the right to publish the names of CWP holders. The guy goes "well there is the freedom of the press." And Colbert shoots him.

Umm ***!!!, he earlier brought up about it being discriminated when going for jobs, and having our rights to privacy infringed, well yeah that would happen, does he think we surrrender our rights when we become gun owners. My information as a CWP holder should be private to all but those in law enforcement and state regulators who keep my permit valid. If newspapers start publishing it and we have no legal recourse, then what option do we have left. Already newspapers wanting to publish the names of CWP holders are getting death threats and whineing about it like little girls with scraped knees.

If folks don't have a legitimate legal recourse, they'll resort to legitimate illegal recourse, and then we all look bad because folks who don't want to be discriminated or potentially targeted by criminals, will realize that if the folks at the newspapers aren't amongst the breathing, there will be no one to publish the names of folks who could be victimized by society. This scares me, not because of my information being leaked by the media, but by the reaction of good honest folks who realize the media wants to be amongst the enemy of liberty and safety. The Guestapo of the Nazis would love these scum.

Suggesting that gun owners are going to kill all the newspaper publishers if they aren't they names are published isn't in line with the idea of promoting responsible firearms ownership.
