College budget collection's done...

You can carry everywhere on campus but in a college building. At least that's the law in Texas. Also, you can conceal a pistol in your car as well.
 
The "new" law in SC is that you can keep a firearm locked in your car IF you have a CWP.

So if you have to drive through campus to go home from the shooting range, you have to risk getting locked up. Stupid, I know.

Speaking of "college budget collections", here's mine, started in October of 2008 and going to July 2009:

Not bad for a 9 month time period. I'm missing the AR-15 from speaksoftly's "next up" list - I've already got the Remington 11-48 and 10/22.

I'm waiting on my SIG P228 to arrive, then after I get my paycheck, it'll be a 91/30 to add to that collection.
 
Nice job! that is quality stuff! When I was in college I would get a financial aid rebate of 1500 or so, each quarter I would use 500 and pick up a new piece, if I could make it through the quarter without needing that 500 I got to keep the gun :) if not, i would sell one- by the end I had had a pretty nice stash!
 
If you want a nice conversation piece for dorm discussion (sadly, it can't be for first-hand dorm evaluation), get a Mosin. Definitely college-budget material, they are available <$100, including S&H, from AIM surplus. A 1/2 case of mil-surp 7.62x54R is another $75 or so. You have a gun with .308 Winchester power, a certain mistique/oddball quality to it, and one hellacious fireball if you ever shoot past twilight.

Crap... When I was college-aged, I could only afford one pistol, and I ended up selling it for rent money.

I didn't "Go to college" though, I got my degree while serving uncle sam.
 
A few more to add to a "college budget collection"...

In the front is my SIG P6 (pictured in my above "armory" photo), followed by my SIG P228 that arrived last week, and in the back is my friend's SIG P226 that he also got last week. & yes, we are both in college, so this still counts as a college student's budget.

As for a Mosin, when I get my paycheck, I'll probably be picking up a 91/30 or an M44. If I can get someone else to commit to buying one as well, we can split a box of ammo.

Hm, I'm kind of considering the .22lr conversion kit for my P228 now that it's an option. I'd keep me from having to drag another gun to the range.

Ok I for one agree the term college budget be removed from the thread title.

I'm in College (4th year) and can barely afford the licenses and ammunition to go hunting this year. As it is I amaze people that I can even amass that amount of money after tuition, books, food sometimes, and gas to get to school (I commute). Consider that I don't have an S.O. to suck my money and I'm not paying room and board.
 
Well, here's how, for me:
-I live on campus so I don't have to commute or drive
-I kept scholarships that covered my tuition for a few years
-I had money set aside for a meal plan which I got rid of for cheaper options
-I work a job Monday through Friday
-I borrow books from people who have taken the class, or split them with other people. The past two semesters, I've spent a grand total of $200 on books.
-I don't go hunting, so no need for licenses

And lastly, I come across good deals on this stuff. I can't say it's all "college budget", as I made good money over the summer to fund at least two of these guns.
 
Wow, i really feel lucky now, my college collection has grown from 0 when i graduated HS (age 18) to #21 with my 21st birthday present in January of 2009, a little slim on Handguns right now since im keeping to one a year from now on and got most before i turned 21
