I have to admit to not exactly being an expert on Colt's .45s. In fact the first time I fired one was last week at a gun range in Connecticut when I brought my brother-in-law shooting as a graduation gift.
They had a nice stainless steel Colt on the rental wall, and when I asked to rent it, I thought it was a 1911. But on the slide, it said 1991. As far as I can tell, everything funtioned just like a 1911.
After the first group he shot, my BIL looked at his target and says, "Wow...this thing shoots WAY nicer than that Glock 19 I wanted to shoot." Kids got this thing for glocks...but hey, he's only 18....maybe this will help him out grow it.
Just Kidding! I know Glock's have their niche, and a G 36 is on my list. And after this experience, a Mil-Spec Springfield is rapidly moving up my list.
Now, to the real point of this thread...is their any difference between a 1991 and a 1911, or is it just a model number thing?
