Colt 38 Special Agent

I have a first generation Colt 38 Special Agent was wondering where the serial # was located and if that would give me any indication of what year it was ?

Open the cylinder and the serial number will be on the crane and on the frame where the crane meets the frame. It is also on the inside of the side plate but you do not need to get in there to see the number since it requires removal of the side plate.
