hello everyone,
i have a colt 380 auto government pocketlite. i bought an extended guide rod from scott mc dougal and associates. and installed it.after firing it a couple of times - it locked up the slide.i checked it out and found that the guide hole on the slide is drilled off center from the factory ! my question is - does anyone else have this problem? and is there anything i can do to correct it( send it back to colt) or just live with the stock plastic guide rod? i like the idea of the extended guide rod- but obvously if it wont work than i cant use it. thanx in advance for any replys:confused:

I don't have that problem so no help there. I did talk to Colt about my gov 380 because I was starting to peen the upper barrel lugs after about 3000 rnds. They basically said the gun is no longer supported and that parts are not available from them. They suggested brownells or gunparts for a new barrel in my cases.

Frankly, I just said the heck with it and kept shooting. It does not seem to matter to me much and it keeps shooting.

On the extended guide rod, I am using my original plastic one and it does not seem to have worn much. I would not change it for the steel one and just keep shooting.

Nice guns aren't they? To bad no one else is making a locked breach 1911 style 380. They are just so CUTE!

peter,
thanks for replying. yes they are a really neat gun.i love the fact that its a scaled down "mini" 1911. i do have a numrich catalog on the way- but probably just gonna put the stock guide rod back in( more cost effective - more $$ for ammo! lol ) thanx again
