i have a older colt revolver 6 shot swing out cylinder double action nickel plated it has been re-nickeled and covered most of the markings the serial number is 78000S
does anyone no what this is and how much it is worth i am going to sell it it also has white peral handles the nickel is great looking

its a great looking gun with white pearl handles you can see the colt manufacturing words on the barrell
but the serial number is an even number it say 78000 and right below it has a capital S

mine has the floating firing pin it is not made on the hammer like the one in the add

Regardless of how great it looks, if it has been buffed and refinished it has little to no collector value now.

And it is not a real desirable caliber for a shooter.

BTW: If you want a positive I.D. and a guesstimate value, you will have to post at least one good picture of it.

Right now we don't even know the barrel length, round or square butt, or any of the markings that are still legible??

yea i will post some pics i was afraid the re-nickel job would hurt the value

yea i was wrong on that it is made on the hammer
the serial number is 78000 and the large S is right below it

With only one picture I'll speculate it's a Pocket Positive circa 1916 as it's within that sn range and the ejector rod head, front sight and cylinder release latch would be consistant with that model. Can't tell a whole lot cause we can't see the trigger guard contour but can't think of another model that has the three features we can see. Maybe no cigar maybe I win the booby prize. Offered IMHO.

Yup. We need a picture of the whole gun.

It could be a Pocket Positive (round butt) or Police Positive (square butt). The "S" is an inspector's stamp, and not part of the serial number.
