I am the proud owner of a brand new 2021 Colt Anaconda 8-inch 44 Magnum.

I am considering purchasing a New Old-Stock (unused) Colt Anaconda 4" Magnum Barrel. This would give me flexibility down the road should I wish to change the barrel out.

Does someone have the information on if the barrel threads are compatible on a 90's Colt Anaconda 4" Magnum Barrel and the new 2021 Colt Anaconda 8" 44 Magnum?

I am hoping the answer is Yes, but prepared for anything. Thanks!

Also, I am hoping that the swap would be a relatively simple changeout (by a gunsmith.) Please share what you can, thanks!

Most barrel swaps require some machining to get the front sight to align when the barrel is torqued correctly. After, that the forcing cone has to be cut to get the gap correct.

Swapping barrels around sounds good but once you factor in the cost of parts, the cost of shipping (+$100 each direction) and the cost of gunsmithing, coupled with lead times that may be several months, it makes very little practical sense. You're spending probably $600 to make one factory configuration out of another.

It’s a hassle… unless you’re a gunsmith, you know a gunsmith or you’re going to be a gunsmith. In all seriousness, a Dan Wesson is about the only way to go for a swap-barrel revolver.

Stay safe.
