First off let me say that as far as assault rifles go I don't know much (lingo or mechanics) but I was looking at purchasing an AR style rifle and came accross a Colt AR-15 with an H-bar & a high powered scope. What I am wanting to know is what is an "H-bar" what does it do (its purpose) and also what would be a good or reasonable price for one?

H-bar stands for heavy barrel, you need to go into a store and hold the different models to see which one is more comfortable for you. I have a 20" Bushmaster that is fairly heavy, and an RRA 16" carbine that is so much lighter. They are both good guns but if I am shooting a lot handheld the RRA is my choice, off a rest for more accuracy, its the Bushmaster. You just have to have more then one!! :D

A Colt H-Bar in good condition would be worth some where around $800 to $1000 depending on what kind of scope it has on it.
