I have a couple of Colt Combat Commanders.

One is a 1991A1 in .45 ACP. It isn't fancy but fed all kinds of ammo, including SWC target loads from the factory. Accuracy is good too.
Sights aren't bad either. My son beat me in a steel plate match last July shooting this Commander. I shot a BHP Practical, which turned out to be the less practical choice for steel.

The other is an older Commander in 9mm. Colt made the 9mm Commander first back in the 1950s when the U.S. Army was looking for a new pistol in 9mm. The .45 model came later. The Army decided to stick with the 1911s and 1911A1 they had on hand and the .45ACP. It took years for the 9mm Beretta to be adopted.

The 9mm Commander has had a custom grip safety, and Millet adjustable sights added. I plan to change the rear sight, because I don't like Millets. When I got it the trigger was not great so I had some work done on that.
It's easier to shoot now and I appreciate being able to shoot cheap 9mm ammo from a 1911 platform.

I've been looking around for a good deal on another one, but prices on Commanders are up these days. Spending the gun money on .41 Magnums and .357s hasn't helped me collect another Commander either. I made a move on an engraved one, but someone beat me to it.

Anyone else like Commanders?

Mine is a parkerized .45. It's the most reliable of all my pistols and the accuracy & trigger pull was ok without having any custom work done on it.
