Please tell me about the Colt Defender Series 9mm (new). Reliability, Accuracy, Overall Fit and Finish etc. If you own one I would love to hear about it.

do not own one. but i will tell you that i came very close to buying one today. it is a very nice weapon. the hogue grips are very comfortable on it. fit and finish were excellent. they had one in 9mm and 45 acp. each looked, and felt, like excellent weapons. have never shot one so i cant give you any thoughts on that.

the only reason i did not buy the gun is because they had a springer .45 ultra compact on sale.

Don't own one but all you hear about the Defenders are good things. The only thing that's kept me from buying one is the way the frame is one color, the slide another.

They have an alloy frame and stainless slide so the two different materials contrast a great deal. I just don't like that asthetically.

I want a small 1911 in 9mm so bad I can taste it but the EMP is just too much money IMHO for a 9mm. So I've tried hard to like the Defender in 9mm. I've even thought about getting it refinished in an all black and that might be what I have to do.

But if the color difference doesn't bother you, then I don't think you can do any better than the Colt Defender.

I'm holding out and hoping that Rock Island Armory adds a 9mm compact to their line up. They added a full size 9mm so I'm hoping! :D
