Going to check out a Colt Diamond back, it's a blue 6 inch version. Looks super clean but has black synthetic grips. I have never owned a Colt revolver. Are there problems I need to look for? The one photo I saw looked very nice 95% ish condition. Looked online and saw many different config finish barrel length etc. also a huge range in price. The gun I'm going to look at is listed at $1,300. It is not advertised with a box. 9780 are the last four digits listed with the gun.

Any guidance would be appreciated as it looks super nice and I love a nice revolver in .38 sp.

If you know the whole serial number you can look it up at proofhouse.com, starting from 1966 up to 1978. Typically all of the Diamondbacks I have seen had walnut grips with the Colt medallion in them. Can't ever recall seeing one from the factory with a Pachmayr grip with the Colt medallion but anything is possible!

Unfortunately I only have the last 4 digits of the serial number. The sights are adjustable but I'm going off a photo that does not show the sight picture. The barrel and frame bluing are nice and consistant, I'd be surprised if they were changed. The grips look like Pachmayrs.
Harder to put on an Accro sight.
I don't know much about Colts, but it clearly has adjustable sights that appear factory. When I check it out in person I will look for smithing.
I assume OP knows what he is looking at.
