I have a chance to buy a Colt Govt Model .380 auto for 300 bucks. I have seen what some of the Mustangs go for. Would you consider this a deal? I will be test driving it pretty soon. From what I have seen it is in very good condition. It was bought new and the sn is 0287.

I will have some pictures of it when I get a hold of it. Does anyone have one or have they had one? If so what do you think of it?

Any replies are appreciated.

That's a good deal by today's prices. That's about what they cost new when they were making them & couldn't give them away. Now they fetch 500 & up.

+1. Even $600 a decent price for a Gov't .380 these days. $300 is a steal.

I have one, and I love it. You won't find a more easy-shooting .380 anywhere.

These are excellent .380 caliber weapons. Caveat Emptor-parts are sometimes difficult to source. If the pistol is tight and in good shape, the price is a steal. But that great price might be a red flag. I don't seek to steal your joy, however, can you shoot it before you buy? How many mags come with the piece? They ship w/ two, if one is lost, that may be an indicator of the care with which it has been treated.

Get off the computer and go buy that thing! That is an absolute steal!

Fairly rough shooter grade guns are bringing more than that. The only reason they are worth such inflated prices is that they really are fantastic little guns.

If you decide you don't want it, buy it and sell it to one of us!

As everyone else has so succinctly stated, stop what you're doing and go buy it before it's gone. Government .380s and Mustangs are going for upper stratospheric prices; even if you don't like it, you won't have any problem getting you're money back out of it. Great gun and a great price.

well, I believe I will take everyone's advice and get it. I borrowed it over the weekend and love how it carries and shoots. I can't believe he only wants 300 for it. My wife has already given me approval :) this probably means she will try to steal it from me, but hey who am I to complain if my wife wants another gun? :D
