I recently picked up a 1916 Colt New Service revolver.

The gun was Canadian issue (with proof marks) and was in .455Eley. It has been rechambed for .45LC.

The gun shoots great. The only question are the mystery marks on the side of the frame. The previous owner had no information either. Importation marks perhaps?

Given where they are, and the fact that each one appears to have been applied with a separate hand punch, I'd say it's very unlikely that it's an importer's mark.

It also looks like it's been on the gun for quite awhile.


Uh... Would you believe, though, that a quick web search turned up ASDA as being a very large British food store?
