has anyone had a problem with the slide stop safety on this model breaking. i had 400 rounds through mine when it broke and colt made me send the whole gun back for repair. they wouldnt even let the dealer do it. the safety seems to be metal injection molded.

thanks,

XSE LW Commander

We got ours at about the same time and have around the same number of rounds through them. I haven't had any problems with mine, but I rarely use the slide safety. I bet I haven't flipped it more than ten times since I bought it. I'll keep an eye on it, though.....Hoping to send another 100+ rounds of reloads through mine tomorrow. :D

The slide stop should be forged on Colts.....goes to show anything can break

Paul,

I got my Hogue ebony grips in the mail today. I've looked at the stock grips long enough to not know which style I like the most, now. :scrutiny:

I bought the XSE Combat Commander around this time last year. No problems yet, though only about 600 rounds into it.

Well, usually when MIM parts break, they break early in the gun's life or dont break at all. Fortunately, Colt doesn't use MIM slidestops. Pete is correct, the slidestops are forged.

Sorta sucks that Colt required you to send the whole gun back instead of just sending you a new slidestop. Let us know how things turn out. I'm curious to the outcome.

Good luck
