I just acquired this Colt Trooper Mark III .357 magnum last week and the action is as smooth as butter, I like this Colt alot it's not a Python but very nice indeed.

'Twas the first handgun I ever owned, purchased new for $109.00 from Solomon's Sporting Goods in Elizabeth, New Jersey, some forty :)what:) years ago. I was with my girlfriend at the time, and still have the gun, the receipt,... and the girl.

Mine's the 6-inch version in .357 magnum, and although my paltry collection has grown exponentially since then, I still consider the Colt Trooper my finest handgun. I've put countless rounds of .38 wadcutters through it, as well as hundreds of magnum rounds. Operation has always been flawless, and accuracy second to none. This may be the most underrated revolver ever produced.

I still hunt with the Trooper, carrying it in a Bianchi X15 shoulder rig, and have taken several whitetails with it.

Congratulations on your find!

I think they are great revolvers and my Trooper Mark III 357 is also very smooth.

Nice find ! I have an older Colt Trooper, made in '62, 4", but it still shoots with laser accuracy. Mines .38 Spl, but still one of the nicest revolvers I own, except for the 6" Python ! Good luck.

I have the 6-inch version in 22lr. It's a great revolver.

Ash, I've been looking for a 6" .22LR Trooper III for a while, they are hard to find. In fact, I only recall seeing one this year at a gun show.

I've always been a fan of the Trooper series myself, Colt makes a fine revolver.

Yeah, I was really blessed. My grandfather some 30 years ago just up and gave it to me. We were over visiting and he gave it to me - it wasn't a birthday or any other occasion, just a visit. I was just a kid and dad kept it for me and I carried it squirrel hunting until I was an adult.

Now, my 5 year old daughter uses it for target practice. We are at our private range and I hold it, with her in my lap. She wraps her hand around mine, sights down the barrel, and then pulls the trigger. "POP!" and she whispers in my ear "again." I cock it, she sights, "POP" and "again." She's already asked for it when she grows up. It's her's. My son gets my dad's Ruger Mk II.

I've been looking for a 4 inch Trooper Mk III .357 in E-nickel. I have a Ruger Police Service Six once had a Trooper in said configuration and sold it (also sold the Ruger) and over time realized I really liked having a 357 for the farm and swamp work/kayaking. Replaced the Ruger (stainless is nice) but have been itching to get the Trooper again.

Nice find. My first .357 was a 4" Colt Trooper Mk.III which I bought new in 1978. Great gun and built like a tank. Another revolver I would love to have back.
