Colts 1851 Navy's worth anything.

I recently bought a pair of Colt's 1851 Navy percussion revovlers.

Both identical.

Both come with

outer boxes
inter boxes marked c1121 7xxx serial numbers on end of boxes
dark brown wax paper
owners manuals
cards and documents etc.

Doesn't look like they've been fired, nice revovlers.

Any clue to what there worth? Worth more as a pair?

Nope, they're not worth anything. Obviously they are forgeries and should be disposed of. Send them to me & I'll seee that they are properly disposed of.




No........................ Not really. In all actuality, they are C series 2nd Generation Colts. With the 4 digit serial numbers in the 7000 range they were made in Hartford in 1972; the second year of production. NIB condition, with the inner and outer boxes, they are worth in the neighborhood of $725 apiece according to '09 Blue Book. Of course, with economy the way it is now, you'd be hard pressed to get that much; but, you never know. There is no premium for being a pair.

Thanks Fingers, I appreciate the information. Since the tree of life dropped these plums in my lap I've been reading everything I could find about them. I think they're gonna be some "keepers".

You will have to decide if you want to keep the silver plating on the grip frame and back strap if it's not to late already. If you leave the tarnish it will eventually eat through the silver and ruin it. I have a couple of those too but a year earlier and one had sat to long and the tarnish got under or through the silver and now it has spots where there is no silver.

Since they are not antiques I keep mine clean.
I figure that way back people probably didn't let them tarnish either. Used them till it just wore off.
