Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Combined Federal Campaign is currently underway, and will end 2 DEC of this year. The CFC allows federal employees (civilian and military) the opportunity to contribute to a charity or non-profit organization of your choice. Every federal agency, or division within an agency, has a CFC representative who is tasked with outreach, paperwork, etc.

At any rate, one of the organizations to which you can donate through the CFC is the Gun Owner's Foundation, the legal and educational arm of Gun Owners of America (CFC Code #1054). Donation is simple and can be taken out of your paycheck over a 12-month period (e.g., $10/month over the next year).

This is a wonderful opportunity for us gun owners. If you haven't done it yet, consider a donation to GOF through the CFC.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty violently opposed to CFC for the following reasons:

1. It's not the government's business who and what I donate my money to.

2. I see NO reason to bring a middleman into the process. That's just another thing for the government to waste my money setting up. Paying all those people the administer CFC and process the donations is a waste of money.

I ended up having to dig in my heels with my platoon sergeant over this because the military is pretty enthusiastic about looking good when it comes to CFC. I fully support charities and activist groups. Ten percent off the top my paycheck goes to a couple of charities I support. But it's my business and no money gets wasted when I do it myself.

If you want to support an organization, I really encourage you to. But there is no reason to do it through CFC. Any organization out there will almost certainly have a website with an SSL server so you can make secure online donations. Many will allow you to set up a monthly donation that is automatically withdrawn from your account.
