Common Calibers

I am trying to make sure I have the most common calibers covered for reloading. Any good calibers I overlooked?

I have:
9mm
.38 / .357
.40 S&W
.45 ACP
.44 Mag

.223 / 5.56
.270 Win
.308 Win
.30-06 Springfield

I left off all the milsurp comblock stuff (7.62x39 5.45x39 and 7.62x54R) as everyone I know shoots only steel & Berdan primed. I'm guilty myself.
Heck a lot of the .308 is not good for reloading due to berdan priming.

380acp is popular and store boughts are triple $ over reloads
32acp fun if you get to liking the older stuff

I thought I was asking a stupid question.
I have a .380 & didn't think of it.
I forgot .30 carbine as well.

Brother just got a .243 - so will probably do that.
Bro-In-Law is into cowboy action .45/70 & .45LC he should have covered.
.45/70 is the rage here recently - new hunting laws

Some stuff is a bit regional it seems. lever guns aren't that common here. I also go by what I see in range brass.

The bolt gun calibers are a bit spread thin here: .30-06 .270 .308 are common. Everything else is split up pretty good.

I am thinking along the SHTF line a bit also.

I am currently doing .223 and .270. Getting ready to do .30-06 bolt gun & Garand and then .308 bolt gun. No M1A's, sorry to say that.

I have been doing .45. I'm branching out into the other pistol calibers. .38 is in the works, cases are ready to load. .44 is next, then 9mm .40 will be last.

I have been getting things together such as bullets, powder, primers. Also dies, trimmers case gauges. Every caliber I listed is what I or my family members would have a definite need for with a really close friend or two covered. I shoot lot of .22LR too. Sometimes its nice not fretting about picking up the brass.

You certainly need a friend with a 41mag. If you don't have one, you need to buy a Ruger Super Duper Blackhawk in 41mag.

You list most of the classic cartridges that have prevailed for years.

But... You also shouldn't be reloading for someone else. You need to get that person to your reloading room and teach him/her to reload. Everything that person reloads, is not your responsibility.

SHTF situation, you're in a good position to be the place your buddies and family come for ammo. Be warned though, a bad situation brings out the worst in a lot of folk. Be prepaired to defend your stockpile.

Thanks for the advice. I think it is spot on.
Not reloading for others is a concern. I have had 2 people ask me to reload for them. I declined. Ironically all they knew about my reloading was that I reloaded. Both had cartridges I had no interest in, but the core issue superceeded that. The fact it would either cost me money or probably be illegal was not much of a selling point for me either.
Yesterday I oversaw my nephews reloading of 500 .233. Liability would be an issue no matter what especially since I live on LA. Plus I'm not going to do all the work. I wasn't going to trim & debur them. He is interested in reloading & I wanted him to see what it entailed before buying equipment. We gave him the "ABC's of Reloading" for Christmas. Many people have unrealistic expectations from reloading.

Yep, add that one to the list of things lawyers gave us. Way more annoying than 'child proof' caps on aspirin bottles:banghead:

Even if you're properly licensed and ensured, I doubt you'd ever make any real money at it (after paying your insurance premiums) and your friends who want you to reload would never be satisfied. I'm not sure I'd reload ammo for my best friend - and I know HE wouldn't sue me. His wife might, though.

Need to take up bullet casting too.
Just in case the lead-free or serial numbered bullet thing gets a foothold.
