I have seen the Ruger GP100 and S&W 686 compared A LOT on THR and TFL. How about comparisons between two Smithies: the 620 and 686.
I know both are L frame based .357s. The 620 is a 7 shooter, and the 686 is available as a 6 or 7 holer. Both have adjustable sights (619 fixed). I know the 686 has a full underlug barrel while the 620 is a half/semi lug deal. Are these two guns basically identical except for the barrel and the greater number of configurations found in the 686 (6 vs 7 shot, 2 1/2, 4, or 6" barrel)?
Two things I am uncertain about: 1) How do they compare in durability? 2) The 620 has a two piece barrel, I believe the 686 is a one piece - what is the difference and advantages and disadvantages of the two types?
Thanks in advance for all the good info I know is coming!
