I just bought a Glock 23, I am currently waiting to pick it up while the background checks go through. After I had made the decision on the pistol I wanted an purchased it, I found out about the 23c. It is a little less expensive and seems to be a good idea. Are there any cons with haveing a compensated pistol vs a standard for carry and home defense purposes? If there aren't any cons, I may change the gun I am picking up to the compensated version.

The cons are that the upward directed muzzle flash can harm your night vision, and the blast can injure you if you have to fire the handgun from a position very close to your body.

Not to mention the fact that some of those tiny bits of unburned powder, carbon, and other GSR are going to get blown back into your face. Sure would suck to get something in your eye when you desperately need to be able to see. Compensated or ported pistols are a good idea for raceguns, but I'd pass on it for a carry piece.
