Concealed Carry Clothiers Vests

I thought that at first too. Takes a while to get the holster in the correct position. And, you're also right about the "balancing act". (Keeping both sides equal.) Maybe mine works better for me because it was made longer. You have to be sure you order the right "IP" too. That's why I got several for me and the wife. She's got the "I want a new pistol" look in her eyes, so I bought several IP's 'till she makes up her mind. (That reminds me. I have to get her a new concealment purse. The ones I've picked haven't worked out. She needs a BIG purse. It was silly of me to try and "surprise" her with my choice. $200 bucks~shot out the "wazoo".:banghead:

I think we are too sensitized to carry methods. Fanny packs, vests, etc. scream gun to us. But not the general public. That being said, I have a fleece vest I wear in the winter. Not sure whether a photographer style vest will work when it is 100 degrees here in Texas in the summer.

Hmmm...

So what if it screams gun? I'm licensed to carry and the law states that I must keep it concealed. It doesn't state that I must dress in an inconspicuous manor". If someone thinks I'm armed, so be it. As long as I'm not printing excessively, then it really doesn't matter what people's assumptions are. And it just might mean a BG will think twice about attempting anything with me.

A Concealed Carry Clothiers vest will age you about 10-15 years.

To those who wear these types of vests, who do you think you're fooling? Why not just write the word 'armed' on your forehead with a magic marker? Same difference.

who do you think you're fooling?

Just about everybody but the know it all experts like you. I've been wearing them since they were first written up in Combat Hanguns three or four years ago. Are they stylish? No, but then I have never been one to dress in the hight of fasion anyway. Do they scream "armed" as you claim? Only to cops and other gun enthusiasts. I really don't care if they think I'm armed - they're right.

Several years ago I was waiting in a check out line on a particularly hot day (here that means well over 100 degrees). I had a Tropical CCC vest on over a cotton t-shirt. The woman behind me in line asked if the vest wasn't hot. My reply was that it gave me pockets to carry keys, checkbook, ID and a Leatherman tool I wouldn't have otherwise since the t-shirt had no pockets. She thought it was such a good idea she was going to suggest it to her husband. The subject of firearms and concealed carry never came up. Boy, she really made me, didn't she?

Thank you Dave T...

All I wanted to do was to write a review on what I consider a great vest. I LIKE mine. For those who don't like vests~~fine....Don't buy one. Sheesh!

Like you Dave, I'm happy to think a bad guy might think I'm well armed because I'm wearing a vest. I LIKE that, too!

An excellent point! Why didn't I think of that

But for anyone who took offense to my comments... Like I said, I was smiling while typing :D 'Twas all meant in good natured conversation. It's hard to communicate mood, tone, etc. with text... I guess that's what emoticons are for...

And a big, fat

My .02 worth

Here in Florida, the only vests I see are leather and are worn by the Bike crowd, along with leather chaps and/or jeans, and when the weather turns cool enough, the Cowboy crowd (me included) breaks out the Western cut vests, boots, and jeans. Most of the time it just is not vest weather, and anyone I see in a Photographers, or safari vest just seems completely out of place. When I was active LE, seeing one in 90 degree heat just screamed GUN!

But if it works for you, have at it.

You forgot to mention CCC's great service. I ordered one vest several years ago and did not like the color. I called and said I would prefer a different color and they sent me a second vest and said to send the one I didn't like back or if I wanted to keep both just let them know. The one and only time I met Mas Ayoob, we were both wearing CCC summer tropical vests and this gave us an opening conversation line. I have walked into the local Best Buy and see their store security wearing the same vest. Upon seeing me they've just smiled and nodded. Oh, I forgot, at my age, I'm suspossed to wear baggy jeans and vests.;)

Hey, here in Michigan the spring and autumns are cool enough that a nice leather or denim vest is just the ticket. I got mine mail order from The Concealment Shop in Texas. They make a full line of vests and purses at reasonable prices.

I ordered a denim vest made of standard blue jean type material. A vest made from this material is sturdy enough to support a gun in the inside left pocket and magazines in the pocket on the right. The gun pocket is open at the top, is shaped like a gun, and large enough to hold a 1911. The magazines are held upright by a couple of elastic straps inside of the right pocket.
