Concealed carry tactic (kinda concealed)

Ive even had a situation where LEO's didnt notice me printing. If youve ever tried open carrying, that gives you a good idea how oblivious ppl are. probably 90% wont even notice you open carring.

45fan, all of these things vary depending on where you live. It doesn't do us much good to treat our rights like something we are ashamed of.
Now that's just not really fair to say. "Kinda concealed" is what happens in Montana as well. I have a shoulder holster, but in the summer it's usually just a light button up shirt thrown on like a vest. The kind of people who don't like guns can't tell and the people who understand that guns are just tools don't care.

It's not a matter of being "ashamed of your rights" at all. It's a matter of respect. I have the "right" to wear a T-shirt that says "go *expletive* yourself" but I don't particularly feel like exercising that one either. Not worth the hassle, and it feels vaguely like peacocking when I do OC in polite society. Just like the shirt would.

And that's the thing. I am carrying. I am exercising that right. By having the respect not to distress people who don't think exactly as I do I'm not "ashamed" of the Second Amendment any more than my not wearing a "*expletive yourself*" shirt means I am ashamed of the First. There comes a time when, as adults, we have to learn to judge the difference between "can" and "should". To learn that there is a time and place when something is decent and when it is not. I'm not terrified I'm going to lose my right of free speech if I don't wear vulgarities on my person, and I'm not terrified that I'll lose my right to bear arms just because the people around me don't know I'm packing.

And remember, this is Montana, where everyone's packing. This IS the wild west. We occasionally run into hungry coyotes and such. There are places so remote and so small that they _still_ rely on Federal Marshalls for the law (which realistically means you rely on yourself). You don't openly pack in polite society even out in Big Sky country.. just as you don't wear a shirt advising folks to have sex with themselves. It's not right for you to belittle him like that. Open carry in the forest? Yup. On your land? Yup. Hiking? Yup. Working in the fringes? Yup. When you go into town and are at Wal-Mart? ....nah. Some people do, that's their choice and _I_ sure am not gonna take issue with them; but it's not really nice to belittle folks who don't feel the need to be confrontational about it.

OC is ok at the gunrange, and in my own home, but to openly advertise that you have a gun in public is asking for trouble. The first thing to consider, if you let the bad guy know you have a gun, that tells him to just change his tactics a little, and take you out first. The second thing to consider, what if someone that is adamently anti-gun sees that you are packing, and makes a huge sceene? Again, just alot more attention than I am willing to ask for. CC for me, thank you very much, there are only two reasons a person will ever see my gun.

I agree, but. <snip>

Now at the mall or the streets of Seattle.......

I have to think that if all the anti-open carry so-called firearms rights supporters would try open carry instead of just spouting unproven theory and intellectual failure, everyone’s rights would be much safer.

BTW, this was taken in Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. ;)

That was funny.

I been to pike place market a few times. Everytime I went it was jam packed. As it was more than a few bumped into my gun and knew what it was.

You can be as intellectual as you want. We are not talking about the impact of english literature on the civilized world.

I have no problem with OC at all. I have done, do and will do it again. I just pick the places I feel its safest for me to do so. The concerns or safety of others is not my agenda.

You got me!

That put a smile on my face.

I want to get a G20SF and a 6" glock barrel for hunting. I have a 45LC singleshot pistol right now that fills that roll so it will probably be a while. My G37 is Glock enough for me right now...

I've been carrying my snubby in a pocket holster in my pants pocket at work while dressed in business casual and noticed two people staring at different times. You can't tell it's a gun but it makes a bigger than usual bulge for a wallet. A third person made a remark that another employee (not me) was a "gun nut" -- trying to draw me out, maybe? Wondered if everyone is discussing whether I carry. Since Texas is not an OC state I take the view that the subject like religion and politics is best avoided except with people you know really well and certainly not to be discussed with work colleagues in a non OC state. If anyone at work asked me my opinion, I would point out that it is a 2A right but I would not divulge whether or not I myself carry.

I try not to OC.. I just don't like drawing attention. Now that I am in OR and don't have my permit yet though it's the only option I have.. :(
