I have a Sig P229, and since my state has (finally) passed a concealed carry law I am looking for a good holster to use. I have 2 extra mags, but while bringing them along would be nice it is not necessary.

I do deposits for two stores I own, and I am planning to be armed while doing so. This will involve a quite a bit of driving, getting in and out of the car, and being very discreet while visible to customers. Ideally I could conceal my weapon under no more than a T-Shirt, though I realize this is difficult.

I have no preconceptions about concealed carry holsters, I have never done so before. I have no real preference for material beyond ease of care, since I intend to have this be an everyday item.

Any advice, especially advice earned through personal experience would be very welcome.

CompTac C-TAC or Gurkha, and +1 on the BladeTech. Used to CCW the bigger HK USPf in such a rig and it also disappeared under Tshirts.

I've used a galco summer comfort all summer with a 225 and I've only used a t-shirt as a cover garment and it has worked well. The couple of times I carried my 226 it was fine with an IWB holster and a t-shirt.

My favorite for OWB carry is the DeSantis speed scabbard. Excellent products at the $50-$60.00 price range.

Milt Sparks

I carried both a V10 Springfield and a HK P7 M8 for four years each under a tshirt at a business I owned with a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2. Most customers never knew it was there and it is SOOOO comfortable. The only drawback is that ordering a Milt Sparks Holster carries a lead time of up to eight weeks. I ahve tried others but these are the most comfortable - even when driving. Chekc it out at www.miltsparks.com.

Thank you all for your help, I will be checking out the holsters mentioned. I am especially attracted to the synthetics, but the leather seems to have made a few converts. I'll post back with my purchase, and my opinion of it. Thanks again!

The usual holsters

Kydex tends to be more compact, though leather is classic.

Bear in mind these are all CUSTOM makers, if you have a preference about cant or belt thickness, you want it to ride high, low, crossdraw, strong hand weak hand whatever doesn't matter any of these guys will make it for you.

Also, leather has a longer wait ... 3 months is typical 8 months sometimes happens. Kydex makers will have your holster out in one week. Also beware that most of what we (and I also) call "kydex" on this forum might not be kydex ... "kydex" has become a word that we use loosely to refer to as you put it, synthetics. Now, bearclaw holsters and dan hillsman and the custom makers use real thermoformed kydex ... fobus is plastic (though it feels nice and soft) and Uncle Mikes is injection molded plastic ... very hard a little brittle all the "kydex" recalls you'll hear about are cuz uncle mike cuts every corner so try not to confuse that sort of stuff with real kydex, which is actually a great material.

Thankfully all the leather makers use real leather and not the fake department store stuff ...
