Hey guys I just ordered my press, trimmer along with a slew of reloading stuff!!! I have not ordered a deburring tool as I am confused about that. When I googled deburring tool all I see is a bit which looks like something that you put in a drill or inside your trimmer.

What do I need to get for my deburring tool. Does it have to be cartridge specific?

Thanks guys

Deburring cases is something you do after trimming as the process leaves a bur around the case mouth. Chamfering is also done on the inside of the case mouth, to facilitate bullet seating and also knock off any bur there as well. I use the L.E. Wilson hand chamfer/deburring tool (shaped like a rocket); it is not cartridge specific and will do .22 to .45 case necks. I use the Lee trimming system with a cordless drill; when finished trimming each case I chamfer/debur before taking it off the drill (spinning the case and holding the debur tool stationary). There are also inidividual trim and debur bits that are for spinning the bit while holding the case. Just depends on the setup you plan to use but the Wilson tool can be used without power as well. Lee also makes a combo chamfer/debur tool but the Wilson is much easier and faster to use IMO.

Can you guys recommend a deburring tool that would be good for me to get?

Thanks

Just to make sure we all aren't putting the cart in front of the horse - what trimmer did you buy?

I use the Lee trimmer personally, you clamp the roungd in a shellholder, which is attached to the drill and trim. This is the set:

and the caliber-specific part:

Since the case is already chucked into the drill, I have used the RCBS chamfer/debur tool above, the lee tool, and now use this:

The others work well, but I like the handles, and I needed primer pocket cleaning/uniforming tools anyway for military brass.

Exactly what Ifushsum said. +1 for the rocket ship tool! There's no better way to describe it.

The Rocket tool works well, I have a Lee. You may find that the number of rounds you are working makes the rocket tool a pain in the fingers, Lyman makes a cordless drill case prep kit that is very helpful, but costs about $35 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005I...qid=1417486204&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

It is more expensive that the Rocket but it makes a few hundred rounds go by smoother. Any and all tools recommended will work

I was going to purchase the Wilson, but went with the RCBS Pro II trimmer instead if that makes any difference.

I finally gave in and bought the Lyman Prep Center. Old arthritic hands need all the help I can get.. Wish I'd done it sooner!

That does make a difference, and that is a good choice.

Just like what HardwarePro said, get the three way cutter head and once you set it up chamfer and deburr cuts are done at the same time as trimming.

Make sure ALL the bolts are tight, especially the ones underneath that hold the "towers". If those are loose the trim length will vary, but if tight it is a very consistent trimmer.

If you have a drill with a 1/2" chuck, just unscrew the handle off the trimmer shaft and chuck the shaft into the drill. You'll love it.

There are videos on YouTube that are worth watching too.
