I found case wall thickness to matter a great deal on 45acp . Fed , Win , Speer all have pretty thick cases . While Rem , Aguila , PPU all have pretty thin walled cases . If I set up my crimp die to give a light crimp to Win or Fed cases it will not even crimp a PPU or Aguila case . The opposite happens if I were to set the die up to lightly crimp the thin walled cases . It gives the Win or Fed cases a heavier crimp . I find it hard to believe I'm the only one that has noticed this when loading with mixed brass . You can feel the difference when they're sized as well . The thick walled cases are a tad harder to size .
I do not crimp any of my rifle cases so I don't know the effects of thick or thin walls have on them .
