I've had a desire to get one of these for quite some time. From my understanding they have sorted out many of the issues with shooting the 38 specials that they had early on, but that didn't bother me much anyhow as it is the 357 magnum part that grabbed my attention. As this pistol works it's way to next up on my list, I'm curious from owners, is this a 1200 to 1400 dollar 1911 reflective by performance and quality?
Meaning does it have the quality to warrant the price tag as compared to other 1911s in that price range, or is it simply relying on the chambering with 500 to 800 dollar quality? I've heard many members refer to the 1200 to 1500 price range as the sweet spot for 1911s, does the Coonan qualify as one of these sweet spot pistols, or is it just overpriced?

I have 3 coonans, a model B, a cadet, and one of the new ones that they make today. Model B I have had for many years, cadet for only about a year [they only made about 500 of them years ago] the classic that I have has the ajustiable sights, very nice pistol, have not shot any 38 specials in mine, I shoot cast lead handloads and have had no problems.
I have been happy with all of my coonans, they are a blast to shoot.
Think you would be happy with one if you like 357 mags.
