I remember when these first came out, was it back in the 80s? These were the original magnum autos, before the Desert Eagle came out. I would seriously consider getting one of these guns, but will have to wait for the money to come in. How do these compare to the originals and do we have anyone here with first hand experience with the old ones, as well as these new classic models. I'd like to hear about it, as well as any images. Show us your Coonans!:what:

I have an original model B with around 600rds through it, both 125 and 158 gr. Never had a problem and very accurate. I use lithium grease on the rails. Cann't show a picture. It is with Chad Kandros getting a full combat overhaul new sights, checkering, beavertail gs. It is my highway truck gun. Don't know about the new ones. If they are as well done as this one I would not hesitate to get another funds permitting. Also Sharktek holsters made me and excellent Kydex holster and mag carrier. Ireccommend them Highly.

Cheers,

ts

Do you reload for your Coonan? Do you have to use high power loads? Will less than full power loads cause failure to cycle the action? I like .357 Mag and reload for my S&W M66 and Marlin 1894C. An auto pistol in the same caliber would be nice.

I believe the Desert Eagle was manufactured first, but I fired a Coonan years ago good gun shot well but the kid who owned it didn't have it lubricated correctly and it would fire 3 or 4 rounds then have a ftf. I don't think there in production anymore though there have been rumors that the company may start making them again.

Coonan has been shipping new guns for 6mos or so now and they're getting very good reviews.

As a .357 handloader the Coonan always intrigued me. Load it up just high enough for good reliability and accuracy. The long frame would fill my hands better than a 1911.
Ended up buying a F/A model 97 .357 instead, but would love to try the Coonan.

.357 mag is my favorite round, so I would be very interested. I have always tossed around the idea of buying a deagle, but this would be way cooler
