L O L... When you get tired of lookin' at the same media in your tumbler. It all depends on how many cases you have ran through it and just how dirty they were. Lubes, greases and waxes tend to shorten media life. But it's cheap. I have the same media in my Lyman 1200 for the last year. As it ends up on the floor I just add more to maintain the level in the tumbler. It's startin' to look a little dark right about now, though.

Walnut VS Cob
As a commercial police reloader of millions of rounds I used walnut to clean and polish fired brass with a LITTLE paint thinner on the media.
I used corn cob to clean lube off of just reloaded ammo with a LITTLE kerosene on the cob that left a light shine on the brass and protective coat on the lead bullets from oxidation in storage.
This was a proven secret of a commercial reloader friend who loaded millions a month.
Now think about the word LITTLE on the media not the brass or ammo.
As to how long any media it lasts, it lasts until it does not work good enough to suit you any more.
