I know we are all sick to death of ammo prices going up. (And I know you are probably sick of people like me griping about it!)I just placed an order at Midway for 500 Remington .357 mag 125 grain JHP and it cost $45.99! This was ON SALE! Last year I bought a box of 500 for $29.99, and the year before they were $24.99. So they have dang near doubled in two years. I bought a 100 30/30 Remington bullets for $19.49! They used to have these on sale for $9.99 all the time. I used to buy Sierra 168 grain BTHP Match bullets for the same price ($19.99), now they are close to $30.00. It is honestly getting to the point where I am gonna have to cut back on my shooting it is getting so dang expensive. I know I have found myself shooting more and more .22 LR (and even it went up, but not like everything else.)

I've found that I can line up multiple target stands and actually hit several targets with one bullet. This has allowed me more target practice with fewer bullets.

Let's here your creative ideas to save ammo or reduce shooting costs.

Signed,

Desparate

I just re-use old targets and I save a ton on ammo. Very consistent groups, too!

Last couple of weeks I reran numbers for reloading versus bulk ammo and it stills comes out to about half the price. Reloading is a good deal, but the dang dollar isn't worth a hill of beans.

Have you tried this outfit for powder?

Friends and I placed a couple orders of 48 pounds to get the best break on shipping and hazmet charges. I believe it came out to about $15 a pound.

Recently I bought 3,000 9mm IMI FMJ bullets from Midway for $180 to the door but when I went to reorder 10,000 they were already sold out.
I knew I should have ordered 10,000 the first time.:(

Last year I bought (3000) Ranier 155's for loading my 40 pistols, at $225 with free shipping, midwayusa. I just ordered another 1000 of'em last week when they went on sale for $89.99. Just in the last year, the price of bullets has jumped 25%.:( However, with my current crop of components, my ammo cost per box in 40 S&W is 6 bucks. I'll be good to go for a while.:D

There's folks who go to casinos for fun. That strikes me as kinda twisted...

And I've got a neighbor with a bass boat... Talk about a money pit...
And don't even think about motorsports

Bassboats, motorsports, both very expensive hobbies. My wife is into horses (only has one now). Take it from me, reloading/shooting is NOT an overly expensive hobby. Besides, it's our responsibility as Americans (those of us that are anyway).

I used to be into computer gaming. Fifty bucks a game and a thousand a year in hardware.

Wait. I'm confused. Five hundred (500) rounds of .357 for $50 seems like a great price to me. That's roughly $0.10 per round. I just bought a box of 50 .38 special for $15 at Walmart, which is $0.30 per round. What am I missing here?

That is the price of the bullets (not loaded cartridges).

Even 22 ammo has skyrocketed in price. Best prices remain at Walmart if you shoot what they sell. I have a pretty good supply of ammo but I need a few hundred rounds of 40 S&W.
