Your front sights seem suspiciously "stock" and tall. Do you shoot smokeless or black powder (BP) cartridges with them?

And if not then if you can get some proper BP cartridges you really should try them. How often can we say these days that we just did something that is identical to what our frontier pioneers did?

Kwhi43, those are nice looking revolvers with beautiful grips!

Here are 3 of my SA "Cowboy Guns".

The top one is a Ruger "original" Vaquero Bisley in .45 Colts.

The next two are Ruger New Vaqueros in 38/357 because it's just too expensive to shoot matches with the .45 Colt because the ammo is so expensive to make compared to 38/357 ammo. When I bought the 2 New Vaqueros I couldn't decide which I like better, the Stainless or the Color Case and Blue so I bought one of each! (oh yeah, I got it bad!!)

I LUV that fog... :D

It'll be a while until I have my reloading area back in business due to moving the house but when I do one of the first items on the list is to crank out some .357Mag sized loads of BP behind some re-lubed 158gn bullets. I want the real white and not the brownish smoke that the substitutes give.

ArchAngel: If you arn't going to use that Bisley, maybe you should sell it.......to me! I got the set-up and some reloads but no gun to shoot em in!

Since a bunch of you are showing off your toys I may as well jump into the pool and play as well.

Don't have any pics of my Pietta cartridge guns yet but here's a shot of my 1858 black powder Remington family complete with NAA "the Earl" offspring. The Remingtons are from Uberti and this pair has consecutive serial numbers as a bit of added bonus.

I shoot the '58's for both fun and in Frontier class at my club's monthly CAS shoots. 30 gn of black with a .457 ball over top provides enough smoke to hide the targets pretty well by the end of of the 10 rounds. More trouble to reload obviously but I find that I actually enjoy interacting with the guns like this. And they are SOOOO much fun to shoot with the recoil and sound being more of a THUMP! than a BANG!

The NAA "The Earl" was purchased on a whim because it looked so much like a scale model of my '58's. It took me a while to get on to holding it decently but now I can keep multiple cylinders worth of shots within a 2.5 inch circle at 12'ish yards on a good day. On a poor day the circle may grow to about 3 inches with the odd flyer outside of that. It's turned out to be a darn good shooter once I figured out how to hold it in a decently supportive grip and to work the trigger so it isn't pulling to the side. Don't let anyone tell you that NAA products are toys. Mine shoots only a little more open groups than I manage to produce with my S&W 17. And if I had steadier muscles and sharper eyes I don't doubt that this is a 1.5 inch or smaller grouping gun at that range.

I think you got that wrong, I never said I don't shoot that Bisley, I just don't shoot it in Cowboy Action. That Bisley is my favorite SA revolver. I carry it sometimes in the woods and also carry it at meets when not shooting a stage. It's also my backup revolver in case anything happens to one of the others. That .45 Colt will be one of the last revolvers I ever sell! I could easily part with the two New Vaqueros if need be but the Bisley .45 Colt, not so much!!!

I have always loved the Bisley Rugers, other Bisleys from Uberti just don't do it for be but the OM Vaquero Bisleys.....heaven for me for a single action. Oddly enough, birds head grips are also one of my favorite to shoots and I love my Blackhawks but the other two designs blow them out of the water for me. Best thing to do at a CAS match is shoot BP without letting anyone know, I did that on a breezy day and the gentleman holding the shot timer saw the cloud from my shotgun and just asked "Blackpowder?" All I could do was grin, widely.
