I've knocked off eastern coyotes with .22lr, 9mm, 12ga., .223, .243, and .308 reduced-recoil, which is similar to 30/30 in performance. I've also hit some with well placed shots that didn't go down. Shot placement is key - hit the head and they drop, double lung and heart and they can still run out of sight sometimes. Unless you want to stuff it, I'd use a bullet that makes a mess.
Similarly, bullet choice matters as does the range you're using them at...if you're using a .22lr.
Depending on the terrain and the type of hunting, I think the OP's got a number of solid options. Carry the 9mm, jump a yote and shoot him; and keep a long gun close by. The 12ga or the .22 are fine for inside 70 yds, and the rifles further, depending on accuracy and optics. Or, go out looking for them...I shoot orange price tags at 200yds with my .243, and a 75gr Vmax can really eviscerate a coyote's head; my go-to for daytime/evening hunting.
Around here, hunting at night is limited to a .22lr...a night vision scope helps considerably too, along with a couple of predator calls. I use CCI Velocitors.
