Today I went to the local gun show (Crossroads of the West) in San Francisco.

It was INSANE !!!

Hundreds of people, you couldn't walk down the aisles without having to squeeze between people, and the lines for ammo were just outrageous. I wanted to get some reloads from Miwall, a vendor I tend to buy from regularly, and when they pointed to me where the beginning of the lines was, I had to ask one of the guys how he'd been in line for, he was in line for 45 minutes, and still had 40-50 people in front of him. Needless to say, I didn't buy any ammo there.

Prices for almost anything were up, especially ammo and tactical rifles. The show had only been open for 2 hours and already some vendors had sold out their stuff!

I got lucky and found a vendor that had a couple of boxes of .45ACP plated semi-wadcutters and Remington primers, so I bought his stuff and got out of there.

I honestly don't remember ever seeing anything like this. I hope all the crazies got what they wanted and the next show in April is a bit more "sedate".

And here I was thinking San Fran was full of "the enlightened" who pride themselves on being above guns.....

Same thing over here on the east coast. All our eastern PA gunshows are mobbed beyond belief. The wait to get in is hours. Once inside, it is disappointing. Sort of sorry for all of those that waited until now to exercise their Federal and State rights.

I hope this panic ends and things get back to normal - may be wishful thinking.
It would be nice to walk in a gun shop and see the old crowd again. A lot of the people I saw yesterday had no clue what they were doing.

Went to a gun show here yesterday. For a case of 1000 .223 they wanted $1200, an M&P-15 $2995, an Century underfolder $995, and an M1A was $4495. I managed a 50 cal ammo can for $12. I knew it would be crazy, but that was ridiculous.

Highway Robbery.

If your in Texas hit Academy Sports at 8am Monday & Friday - or have someone do it for you.

Academy is still getting drop shipments of ammo.

Yeah, highway robbery is right.

I only briefly looked at a few rifles, since most of the vendors were mobbed, but those that I saw I thought were way overboard. I saw a M&P 15-22 going for 695.00. A Chiappa M4-22 for $550. The Romanian made AK's which usually go for around $300, were $450.

Then you had the guys selling magazines. One of the biggest rushes here was buying the hi-cap magazines in the form of the so called "repair kits".

Since California has a ban on mags with capacities larger than 10 rounds, a lot vendors get around this by selling "repair kits", basically disassembled but complete mags, which anyone can re-assemble into a fully functional one. I was looking at a 20 round "kit" for a Colt M4-22. The actual magazine sells for about $35 (If you can legally buy it), but these guys were asking $65 and $75 for the 30 rounder, in kit form !!

I think I'm good with what I have for now, so I'll patiently wait until this craze dies down.

Gun show yesterday had a 2+ hour line... Ditched the show, went to Bass Pro, and bought some powder to kick myself in the rear to finally buy a press.... Best show I've been to in a while :D

Today I dragged myself to one of the larger NE Ohio shows. While the show was packed I didn't see much panic buying and I saw several AR type rifles that while priced high were not as stupid as most of what I have seen on ArmsList of late in my area. Ammunition in .223 was way over priced as was most ammunition in general. I figure that .223 priced between $0.90 and $1.00 per round is just plain stupid. While I saw it priced high I didn't see people buying the stuff.

My focus was on the older Colt and S&W guns and I did see a few that were nice. My wife was amazed when I came home awhile ago without buying anything. That considering I had plenty of cash on me is amazing. :)

I was trying to get to the Berea show all weekend. Glad to hear there wasn't anything worth buying.

Is it just me or are the Ammo Manufactures Not producing whats really in demand?? Now I not sure how they deside what and how much to put out, But it would seem if there is a large demand for 223 they would maybe cut back on something else and and pump out more of the 223!!

Y'all might wanna think about gettin' out of SanFran for awhile. Maybe a vaca to Arizona or Tejas. You're starting to sound a bit like difi herself. Get away from that liberal anti fallout, don'tcha know.:D

BTW... unsless you're exempt, I believe that assembling that kit is a felony?

Not highway robbery. Simple supply and demand. Those who planned ahead are making a killing and/or not sweating it. Those who didn't wished they did.

I recently sold a couple of 10/22 30 rd Eagle mags for about $60 each. 10/22 OEM BX-25 mags are going for about $90-$100 each.

All Ruger pistols at Buds are Out-of-Stock. I'm still kicking myself for not getting a MK III with a threaded barrel when I could at under $300.
