Not sure about the others, but when I say Wesson in reference to a high-end 1911 I'm talking about Dan Wesson. The only Smith & Wesson I have is a 1917 revolver in .45 ACP with a Fitzgerald job. I only have it because it is the original belly gun.
I've never found a really good reason to have a 1911 customized by anyone but myself. There are a few things I like to have quite different from a stock 1911, but I don't care for ambidextrous safeties (I can work the safety on the left with the right or left hand) and I don't want an extended slide catch (I can reach it with my thumb without changing position on the grips). I also don't like oversized mag releases or ambidextrous ones.
What I do like is a gun that fits me, feels comfortable, is accurate and 100 percent reliable. I don't need lightening cuts, special serrations or oddball checkering for that. I do need high quality sights, forged parts and some other special touches to make it work out for me.
The reason I like the Norc is that it is the best steel used in any 1911 frame and slide, it is forged and it is exact mil spec. When I ordered my custom bushing from EGW the guy said "You're in luck. That's exact spec." I got it a bit oversized so I could hand fit it.
Sorry about the off-topic deviation. But, I'd put the pistol up against anything else out there that is built for carry use. Every part has been meticulously hand fitted and matched to the parts it mates with. I know, I did it myself.
