So, in lieu of bouncing between a 550 and a Steyr, regarding carbine/mannlicher and weatherproof, I was shown that MPI does Mannlicher stocks - In Fiberglass! (shush if you already knew this )
So, instead of trying to get a 550 and refinish it, or keep my Audi RS4 of a Steyr Scout, I figured take the cash and turn my M96 with a cracked stock into my rifle. I love the Swede action, and I love the 6.5x55.
Problem - Swedish actions (the reciever, I presume, since the bolt seems of high-grade) are limited to around 46,000PSI.
So, does anyone know any manufacturers who re-do a Swedish action of better/stronger material?
Or, is the upgrade in pressure irrelevant, as going to 50,000PSI on that cartridge not worth it? I noticed that most loads stay under 44,000 anyways, and many shooters have said that the swede does a grand job around 2,300 fPS anyways..
