My CZ 452 FS .22lr just loves to send the first shot about 4MOA to the 11 o'clock position. Its predictable, and even just the few seconds (1 minute?) it takes to reload a single 10 round magazine is enough to get the flyer, while a quick change of an empty mag for a pre-loaded one won't cause the flyer.

Anybody got any tips for normalizing that first shot? I'm getting good at just manually compensating for it, and can put the cold-bore shot in a 1" circle at 50y pretty reliably, but its still annoying.

The my FS has a plastic barrel band at the tip of the bore, which puts a small amount of pressure there, so I wonder if that is partly to blame. i guess I could remove it and see if it helps....

There is a verrrry long thread in the CZ forum at rimfirecentral on just this issue. IIRC some there have been successful eliminating the problem with a detailed cleaning regimen.

Joining Rimfire Central is good advice.

I mean no disrespect to this fine forum, or to any other, but I would not bother posting a rimfire related problem anywhere else but RFC.

Any and every name brand rimfire has a dedicated forum, and there are always people viewing. Your chances of getting an in depth answer FAST are vastly better than anywhere else on the internet.

yeah, I know. Tried to join rimfire central, but they don't take gmail, and I'm not into handing out my work email to forum sights. I put in a help ticket for that, but no response yet (its been a few days).

I know a bunch of CZ guys frequent this forum, so I thought I would give it a try.

I have gmail as well. You can change your account E-mail to a free service after you register. The VBB software also allows you to choose not to receive e-mail from users or administrators when you register.

I was in your shoes about a year ago, and that is what I did. Just use your work e-mail and then change it right away. It's worth it, not only for your current problem, but for any rimfire gun or ammo questions you have in the future.

It is a common problem. Mine does it badly.

The solution is to clean the leade just ahead of the chamber really hard and scrub the fouling buildup out. I have had limited success with this in mine but I may be too gentle.
