Well...almost a month into deer season and I have had the chance to break in my 6.5x55 Swede. So far it has performed great. I have taken two hogs and a fox with it and all have been stopped in their tracks. I have not shot a deer yet. I have had many chances to take a doe and have had a chance to take a 9 point with about an 18 inch spread but decided to pass it up. I saw a 10 point the week before the season started and would really like to get it so that is why I passed up the 9 point.
So I just wanted to say to all those who told me it was a great hunting round...you are right! Not only does it do a great job but it also has very little kick. I really noticed it after I shot the first hog. While I was looking at the hog it occurred to me that I could not remember any recoil from the rifle...hum....so when I shot my second hog the next morning I thought about the recoil before I shot just so I would be thinking about it when I shot and low and behold it was like shooting a 22! WOW! Now that I have shot game with it and did not feel like I was being punished to shooting it I plan on it being my go to deer rifle...that is of course until I buy my next rifle...
