CZ 75 Cold War

They were up here in the early 80's. Came with a factory test target in every box. Would have bought one in a heart beat except they're too big for my hand.
Certainly wouldn't buy one that commemorates the Soviet Union.

I'm not really impressed with the red star, the other markings are kind of neat, even if its just that they are unusual. I do find it interesting that a company from a former communist country would market a Soviet marked pistol, even to "celebrate" the end of communism. After all, what are the chances that a company would market a Nazi marked pistol to celebrate the end of Nazi rule in Germany? That makes about as much sense, and the Soviet Union has at least as much of a history of abuses and genocide as the Nazi's, if not more.

That said, I just put one on layaway. I've been wanting a CZ75 of some kind for a long while, and this one was the least expensive one I could find.

I find it interesting that the Cold War Commemorative is now selling for less than the standard CZ-75B. Currently, Bud's has them priced at $458 and $465 respectively:

Even if you're neutral about the Soviet markings, it would be worth picking up the commemorative over that standard model because it's cheaper and the production run was limited to 999 units. Just say "Да."

That's exactly it. As an American born to Lithuanian parents (my father was a war child, and later 'DP' & nation-less), I find it disgusting that any product, particularly a pistol, commemorate Soviets or Nazi's alike. Frankly, it's absurd, particularly in this culture of ours that touts freedom as the highest good.
I am however happy to hear that the prices are cheap, meaning, demand is particularly low for this disgrace of an attempt at making a buck... off the imagery of one of the most repressive & murderous governments we have seen.

That said, my first pistol was a CZ75, bought for me by my late father, later sold. Shot it a lot, including a couple IPSC matches. It's now been some 10 years and was thinking to buy another. I think I'll look for something else.
