There is something about watching your boy plink away with a 22lr pistol, even if it belongs to somebody else. He really liked that CZ-75 Kadet pistol, with the fake suppressor and ‘scope. This was about 4 months.

Well, I can’t get the fake suppressor or the ‘scope right now, but we can certainly get a Kadet Kit! I had one before, tragically lost it, real estate deal, but now I had the opportunity to rectify the situation!

I decided to put this one on a P-01, specifically, My P-01. But first, it had to be fitted. CZ Kadet Kit adapters have to fit a wide variety of CZ pistols, so in some dimensions they are made slightly oversize, to allow for hand fitting. I turned mine over to a good local gunsmith friend of mine, seen here shooting the assembled product.

My camera battery was low on juice this range trip, so my pictures are sparse. I can say that LAGS was pulling his hair out – the little Kadet Kit adapter was turning in better groups than his Ruger MK II target pistol. He fit the adapter on well, but ran into a problem – the slide would not stay back. I experienced the same issue, as the slide could be manually locked back on an empty magazine, but would not hold open, nor would it stay locked back when the mag was removed. This drove us both nuts until MUCH later when I was discovered I need the CZ 75 PCR slidestop for the P-01 to work perfectly. One is now on the way.
In the meantime, I did get to shoot some groups, and discovered the little gun could shoot quite well.

When the new slidestop comes in, I’ll try it again, and betcha we get even better results! What a neat little Kit!

Altho for the price, I could have gotten another .22 pistol, the Kadet conversion kit allows me to practice with my primary HD firearm. I've found it to be incredibly accurate, reliable, & cheap to shoot. It certainly gives wifey a run against her MKII.
As you did, I had to have mine "slightly" fitted for my P01 - no issues after that.
Please post an update after the new slidestop install.

Thanks,

Bruce

I agree the Kadet is an excellent .22LR conversion kit for the CZ 75 family. I would like to pick up another. I've never had a problem and it resides mostly on a CZ 75 semi-compact (actually a full sized frame).

Are those both steel framed Compact models next to the P-01? Must be because they have the safety, not decocker. Very nice sir!

I've had a Kadet Kit for over ten years now, and shoot it a lot. It fits perfectly on my 75B, and PCR with no fitting required. It is very accurate, and reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to carry it as a woods plinker either.

The Kadet is a blast and is worth every penny. I love mine.

I have my Kadet Ket mounted on a nickel 85 Combat. The 85 Combat has had a little gunsmithing, so the trigger is quite nice.

I had a Stainless Ruger MkII Target Competition (long barrel) when I first got the Kadet Kit, and the Kadet Kit would consistently shoot with (and sometimes a little better than) the MKII -- depending on ammo.

I later traded the MKII TC for a Witness Sport Long Slide in .45. I'll keep the Kadet Kit.

I've just ordered the CZ 75 Shadow T along with the Kadet Kit and a few extra magazines. They're in transit from CZ Custom now and I should be going to the range on Friday or Saturday. Can't wait!!!!!!

My gunsmith buddy asked me where I had gotten the trigger on the P-01 worked on. That was just a lot of trigger time over the past many years. :)

armoredman,
It appears you are shooting at Rio and I believe I have seen the gunsmith at the Tuesday steel shoots (forget his name) as well as the weekend USPSA shoots.
The CZ Kadet kit is a very well made 22 conversion kit - all steel. I have one on a CZ-75 which is somewhat picky since it really runs like the veritable clock on the pricey European ammo.

Tony, that's the free public range in Casa Grande, AZ, well south of Rio Salado. Long drive up there. The gunsmith goes by LAGS on several boards, really great guy.

Another happy Kit owner here. Mine has pretty much taken over a 75B full time. My Ruger Mk.II 22/45, which is a fine pistol, is seeing less range time.
