I need some help here from the CZ guys that have shot these or own one of these. I'm in the market for a new target 9mm/.40. I have decided to go CZ 75 and really like the CZ 75 TS. I know there are a lot of other great guns out there but really want to know about these two models as i'm sticking to the CZ brand.

I have been trying to determine how accurate this model is and all I keep finding is subjective statements such as "very accurate" or "more accurate than X gun." I wanted to get specifics as I'm not an expert on target pistols by any means.

Here are my questions.

1) What is the best group size I could expect out of the 75 TS given ideal conditions at say 25 or 50 yards?

2) Do you think the CZ 75 B SA could be similar to the TS in accuracy? Is the TS really worth the extra money when it comes to accuracy?

3) In one thread I read that the 9mm version was more accurate than the .40? Yes/No?

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm not looking to do any competitions, just looking for a very accurate target pistol from CZ.

Sprocket3,

I posed the same question a few months ago on the CZ forum. A few CZ forum members had owned a TS. What I gathered was there is not a lot of difference in accuracy from a TS to a CZ-75/.40. The TS has a longer barrel and sight radius, so technically, it should be more accurate than a 75. However, there is nothing special about the barrel fit since CZ's don't need precision fitted barrels in the first place to achieve a high degree of accuracy.

This is my SP-01/.40 and this is a "best of group" @ 25 yards. This is 10 rounds, 8 went into 1.25", using a solid sandbag rest. A typical 25 yard group is around 2.0"-2.5", certainly not bullseye quality, but pretty good nontheless. I believe the only way to get a stock CZ to shoot this well is with improvements to the trigger and sights. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting! That's what I wanted to see.

I want to get something that can produce close to 3" groups at 50 yards. Not that I can shoot that good, but it's nice to know the gun is not the problem. I have read great things about the high end Sigs and 1911s but wanted to stick to CZ for this purchase.

The TS isnt really designed for bulls eye shooting its designed for IPSC.

Its sights are for fast target acquistion, not ultra precision.

The 9mm TS version uses 20 round mags (the gun ships with 3) vs the SA's 2 16 round mags.

I read an article where Mas Ayoob said he got 1.2 inch group 5 shot group at 25 yards with WWB 115 gr FMJ with a 9mm TS, not to shabby.

I have a 75 SA 9mm and I doubt I could produce that group.

sprocket3,

I don't think you're going to achieve consistent 3" groups at 50 yards with a standard 75 or the Tactical Sport.

Phil Beddo is right about the TS being set up for IPSC, however, you could make some mods for your intended use.

Thanks for all the info guys. That hleps a lot.

I would think that if the gun can shoot a 1.2" group at 25 yards it would do a 3" group at 50 yards. I was thinking of changing out the sights down the road as I'm sure that would help. I guess there would not be any point if it can't shoot that tight of a group though.

I know it's set up for IPSC but I would think with a little adjustment it would be a great target gun.

I just pulled the trigger on a CZ 75 TS .40 cal. It should be here by Friday! Now to find some cheap ammo to push through it.

Thanks for all the help! I will update with results.

congrats...i'm sure you'll be very happy.

if you decide you want to optimize the trigger, consider Apex Tactical in Moro Bay. Randy Lee is running a CZ P-01 and has the DA trigger pull down to the 6lb range

Well i hope I don't need any trigger work as i was told the SA only trigger was 1.5-2lbs.
