I am planning on making up a SBS from side-by-side gun with hammers. So far the shotguns I have looked at hasn't impressed me with quality of fit and finish. I'm looking for a good quality shotgun to turn into a 14" bbl Well Fargo type coach gun.

The CZ looks good, but I've never seen their coach gun in person. Anyone have any experience or thoughts.

I'll also consider other shotguns with external hammers, but I was not impressed with the Stoeger, Century arms or Norinco. If I am going to go to the trouble of a $200 tax stamp, I want something decent - but under $1000.

I've seen and handled one once, at a local gun shop. I didn't go over it with a fine tooth comb but the impression I came away with was that it's a nicely made gun and is well representative of their other fine shotguns.

Wish I could tell you more.

I'm really not one to yammer that just because I have one and love it that everyone else should.

But I have one and love it and everyone else should get one if you are into coach guns. It is cosmetically beautiful, extremely well made and reasonably priced.

Please don't pay any attention to the CZ bashers, they are out to lunch for the most part.

I've also got a CZ woodcock and it is just a great gun.

I have a CZ ringneck 12ga (long barrels, no hammers, SxS, single trigger)
For the price it's a pretty darn good SxS. it's LEVELS beyond the russian clubs. Below $1000 I think you would be hard pressed to beat it's workmanship and feel.

HOWEVER
I shoot a lot
The first Ringneck actually broke at about 5000 rounds or so. (1 year), the solder between the barrels fell apart.
CZ said ship it back, I did, 2 weeks later a new gun (different serial number) was on my doorstep.
I've used that one about a 1000 rounds (I've bought a much more spendy SxS in the meantime) and it now doubles all the time when you go left side first (both barrels at once:what:). (which really creates a serious flinch pretty quickly:scrutiny:).

It's back at CZ currently.
I still like the gun, but......

CZ has a 5 year warranty.

That may not work. I'm planning on turning this into a NFA item, so I don;t want to be shipping it back. My wife has a nice 20 Ga CZ Bobwhite, but after two years is has yet to be fired.

This is what I am thinking:

cz coach problem

I bought a CZ coach shotgun. I had several mis fires in the right barrel. The firing pin was not hitting dead on on the primer. It also was hitting lightly. I send it back to the manufacter. I was wondering if anyone else had similiar problems? Thanks Dick
