I was wondering, if any members have any experience with CZ pistols. I am thinking about buying both a CZ 75B and a CZPO1. I own several Sig pistols and S&W revolvers but besides renting CZ's, I have no experience with the brand.
When renting, I really liked the way they felt.
But, are they a good buys?
What are their pro's and con's?
Will they handle heavy shooting?
Any help, would be very welcomed.

I don't wish to discourage replies, but the search engine is your friend. THR has numerous recent threads dealing informatively with all the questions you posed about the CZ. You might try reviewing a few to supplement any responses you recieve here.

Kevin Quinlan,
Thanks for the reply, and your opinion on the PO1.
I will check-out, the two forums in your links.

bought a cz PCR (its the P01 without the rail.... basically). gun had probably 1500 rnds through it within a few months and thats only because I haven't had time to buy another case. always runs perfect. looks great. fits great and shoots great. has a more than adequate 14+1. can run it as dirty as you like it will keep putting rounds down range. I recomend purchasing the 22 kadet kit along with any cz product. not neccesarily through cz because they charge more but any online site should have them reasonable. got mine for 240's after shipping I think and it comes in handy to shoot when you feel like shooting a box a rounds that was $10 for 500 instead of $10 for 50.

I don't think you'll find anyone here that like CZ's...sorry.

Just joshin'! You'll find many fans of CZ on this site as well as others....and for good reason....they are great pistols.

I'm hoping to pick up a PCR for concealed carry soon. They are like the P-01 but narrower in the nose and no light rail.

You won't be dissappointed in the quality department. One of the best values out there.

For range use look at an SP-01 or any full size 75 or 85.
For conceal and range use look at the PCR or P-01.
The RAMI is fun too. I own one.

OK, here's my story.

I learned on a 1911 when I was 12. I got a HiPower as my first autopistol. I own five 1911s, and three HiPowers. I got my first CZ this year.
I get up every day and put on my clothes and slide one of the following two pistols in my IWB holster: Ruger GP100 3" .357 magnum, or CZ-75SA 9mm.
I carried the HiPowers and 1911s for years, and recommend them to people who love to shoot, and want slim, ergonomic pistols that shoot well.
I have found after many years that "out of the box" reliability isn't where the 1911 and HiPower shine. My CZ ran 800 rounds the same day I bought it before I brought it home. I cleaned it and took it back to the range with my defense load, Golden Saber Bonded 124gn+p. I shot 250 rounds of that. I took it home, cleaned it, loaded it, and carry it now as my primary when it's not so hot out that I'm likely to sweat all over it. I carry the stainles GP100 for sweaty days.
I was sold on this CZ for only $415 new. I bought ten magazines, a good IWB holster, and a couple of thousand rounds for less than I have in one 1911. Good stuff.

CZ's are great weapons, buy one now before the demand drives up the price! (AGAIN):D

I have a pcr and a 85.The pcr is my favorite pistol of all, including my 1911's.Next,I want a single action only 75,great guns for the money. All I shoot thru mine are my reloads and they've never missed a beat.

MY pre-B CZ75 is my most favored gun of my small collection. The grip feels great and the trigger is getting better with more trips to the range. A 75B in 9mm is on top of my wish list to compliment the pre-B.

Are they good buys? IMHO they are one of the most underrated gun companys out in the world. The quality is outstanding for the price you pay. CZ75 pistols see service all around the world, both the good guys and bad guys carry them on a daily basis.

Good luck in your choice, and I think you going to enjoy the CZ purchase.

I'd like to know what prices one can expect to pay for a CZ 75 from a dealer, I was looking around 4 months ago on the net and it seemed like they could be found for less than now, also a shop I went to had a compact for 350 which seems to be a good deal. they have a satin nickel tfor $100 more which also isn't too bad, I'd rather have a full size in stainless though but I'm on a budget and the compact seems alright and just wondering if people enjoyed them.

Bought the stainless. Its a great gun. I went to a group shoot and tried another member's CZ. That day I decided that the CZ 75 was the next gun for me. I lost out on a few deals for 75Bs and 75BDs (decocker instead of safety) because NJ doesn't allow greater than 15rd mags. All new mags are 16rd. Its a good gun, but be aware there are some issues with them

Many people have complained of the following:

Undersprung
Sometimes you will have to replace the recoil spring and extractor spring before it is "perfect" Some recommend going to a 14# or 16# wolff spring. They are cheap. Its not too expensive to plop $10 towards a functional gun
Also, mags can be undersprung, so pick up a kit of springs for $20. WELL worth it

Slide stop breakage.
This was an issue moreso years ago (and with guns manufactured then). There seems to have been an issue with some slide stops breaking. There are still rumors that you need to replace the slide stop every 1500-2000rds. They are anecdotal accounts. There are other accounts of people with 10,000+rds w/o a broken slide stop. Some people put the above together with the weak springs to assume thats the cause of the breakages. It could happen. My slide stop seems hefty and fine after nearly 500rds.

Sights are not FABULOUS.
They are stock sights. The dots are not always painted on the center. There are $1000 guns that have this problem. Its not like they wrap around the side, they're sometimes off by a micrometer or two. If you are focusing on the dots so much instead of the black shape, get night sights. CZ sells them that way too.

Trigger has some creep and grittyness. The triggers ease up considerably after about 200-500rds or dry fires (do so with a snapcap only). The single actions are buttery after that. Double action has some travel and creep, but not nearly as some people make them out to be (though my SS model has an excellent trigger and was like that after about 50 dry fires). Trigger jobs have made them into absolute fabulous guns. You could also buy the SA model for a good trigger out of the box.

My opinion overall? Excellent bargain. I fired some FMJ through her and then switched to my defensive round (Speer Gold Dot 124gr Standard pressure). I put the target out to 7-8yds and punched a hole in the Q on the sil on my first shot. I was impressed. I am not by any means a great shot. It was the arrow making the indian look good.

I also bought the stainless CZ-75B very lately... and LOVE it. It's a wonderful gun; this was after trying out many, many different brands and models for the last few months.

:D

I bought a P-01 several months ago and it has taken over as the main carry gun in my rotation. Carry it in an IWB from HBE. Mine has been dependable and it is accurate.
