CZ Rifles?

Hi everyone, I am fairly new here but have been reading this forum and TFL for a long time. Anyway, I noticed some of you guys are into the CZ rimfire rifles and was wondering what you thought of the centerfire stuff?

I have a 7mm-08 that I hunt with most of the time, but am looking for a .270 to add to the collection. I am almost set on getting a 700 Mountain Gun, but then I saw the CZ rifles.

I was looking at the 550 American and the 550 Full Stock (Mannlicher style). I plan to put a scope on the gun and the 550 American seems the way to go, but there is something about that full stock I really like. Anyone have one? Comments? Accuracy compared to a standard stock?

Also, what is the overall quality like on these guns? I have a 75B that I use for a range gun and I love it. It is pretty accurate and dead reliable. The machining is a bit rough on the inside but the gun doesn't seem to mind, nor do I. Thanks for the help.

I like em. I have two 550 Safari Magnums that I dearly love. Compare next to any Rem/Rug/Win, then compare the price tags. CZ is an excellent weapon at a reasonable price. Also, they are accurate.

I also like the European style stock. It fits me perfectly and helps tame the recoil of the big boomers. HTH

Two years ago I was looking for a hunting rifle for elk other than my Rem. 06.

I decided on the a CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62mm. I like the look of a FS rifle. The CZ is very well built and the wood has a satin look to it compared to my Rem and Browning rifles which are glossy.

Conerning the accuracy the first three rounds out the barrel were bullet to bullet group.

Last Nov. while in Colorado (Elk hunting) the other guys I was hunting with liked the look of the rifle. I didn't score with an elk as I had a bull tag and only saw cows.

One thing I have found is when firing over 5 rounds the bullets start to string upward a little but that really doesn't matter as when to fire more than a couple of rounds at an Elk/Deer etc.

My precieved recoil from the CZ 9.3 feels lighter than shooting my 06 BDL. Also I'm really impressed the caliber.

If you pick the FS I don't think you'll be sorry.

This is my new CZ 550 Safari Magnum in .375 H&H. I am very impressed with the fit and finish on this rifle for the price...

I'd be very interested to know when your rifle was made. The date is stamped on both the receiver and barrel, just ahead of the gas vent hole on the right side.

The reason I ask is because your gun has a vented rubber recoil pad instead of a Pachmayr Decelerator. I'm wondering if CZ has started cutting corners...

Also, were the sling swivels included, or did you add them? I mean the swivels themselves, not the studs.

The date is 98. I don't know about the swivels as I bought it used from my dentist who took it on a once in a lifetime trip to Africa and then had no further use for it.
He may very well have added them.

I have a CZ 527 Lux in .223 and it's a GREAT rifle! I've never scoped it, but with iron sights, it is dead on acurate right out of the box. The set trigger is sweeeett! The wood is gorgeous! I just bought a CZ 452 Lux .22LR and the craftsmanship on CZ rifles is easily worth twice what the price of the rifle is. If I'd have handled a CZ rifle before I bought my Ruger M77 International, I'd have bought the CZ fullstock.

CZ doesn't list a full stocked rimfire rifle at their site now www.cz-usa.com but I'm positive I just saw a new one for sale last week?
Hope they haven't dropped them. They do still list a mannlicher stocked small action centerfire.
Might be nice in .22 Hornet.
