As I was very excited about being given these revolvers. I haden't even taken time to really look over these weapons. Upon further examination I found I had miss-informed you. The 44mag is actually a Strum,Ruger Super Blackhawk, it has a 7 1/2" Bbl, and is blued, never fired. With a catalog # S47N. The Dan Wesson is actually a 357mag with a 6.6 Bbl, blued, with a cooling Bbl fin, Walnut grips, fired just 5 rounds. It (357 DW) was purchased in May of 1980. If you can help me with some information on these it would be of great help to me. And any type of estimate to their worth to be able to know for insurance. thanks again, Tom:)

I bought a Dan Wesson 357 last month. Its a great revolver, yesterday I went to the shooting range and shot 30 bullets with it 27 hit the 10 and 3 hit the 9. I paid $200 and it came with an additional 4 inch barrel, the pouch and original literature. Here is a pic of mine:

Figure around $400 for the DW (Model 15-2 probably). Hopefully you got the box w/ gauge and wrench, but I doubt it if you're asking for info (now that I think about it).
The SBH value should be around $550 if it's pristine, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. Box and papers help value somewhat. If it's an older 3 screw add another $100 or so.

Viper13,

Both the Dan Wesson and the Ruger Blackhawk are great guns.
I have a Wesson blued in .445 Super Mag, a bit different in cal.
and has an eight inch barrel. Got it through Cabela's, had it shipped
from one store to the one in Dundee. Paid about $600 for it.

Bought a used Ruger SS Super Blackhawk 7 1/2" ,Rosewood grips in .44 Mag
for $479

Both preowned (used) guns and look great.

I know sometimes the prices is a bit higher, but I've bought a few guns through
their gun library and can guns from different stores sent to one near you. Been happy with all of them. :D

You're gonna love em' both, I've taken quite a few deer with my .44 Super Blackhawk.

Viper13, if the Dan Wesson has an adjustable rear sight then it is likely a model 15 or 15-2. These are unique in the revolver world for their interchangeable barrels. With only 5 rounds ever put through it, the gun could be considered like new. The value will vary by geographic location. Here in Houston, TX. the gun would fetch about $400. As others have posted, the value of your Super Blackhawk will vary greatly by when the gun was produced, with 3-screw and flat top models having higher values. Both guns have earned a well deserved reputation for high quality and durability.

Take some time and browse this web site -> http://www.collectorsfirearms.com they have several examples of Dan Wesson and Ruger (plus many other) guns.

This web site -> http://www.notpurfect.com/main/dwrev.htm has good information on Dan Wesson revolvers.
