Dan Wesson specs?

I have recently bought 2 Dan Wesson .44mags. One has a set of 4 barrels and a barrel nut wrench...the other has nothing. I seem to recall the barrel/ cylinder gaps as being .006" on a DW .357 I once owned. Is that spec right for the .44 mags also? Thanks;

Yep! I think the range was .006-.008 inch, but the feeler guage they supplied me was .006. ANd I would think tighter was better up until you experience binding.

Thanks Boomer; I agree with the less the better. I had a glimmer of recall about Dan Wesson advising on the M-14 and M-15 .357 that if you got under the bottom by much it would make the cylinder bind if you fired enough to really heat it up.

gap

Nominal gap for the 44 Mag is 0.006 inch. I set mine to 0.004 inch. I don't worry about the cylinder heating up, the nominal gap on the SuperMags is 0.003 inch. A 0.006 inch gap is need for absolute reliability in a carry piece on grounds you may get some bit of junk incaught in the gap. But you can sacrifice a bit of reliability in a field revolver. I don't think any body is really going to be shooting fast enough with the heavy calibers to worry about heating up the cylinder.

It is (or was) 0.006" on all but the SuperMags, which are 0.002".
