13 years old, cute as a button and smart as hell. She's been campaigning for me to take her to a match for a year or so, but I've been busy taking her older brothers, etc. So her turn finally came up. Handgun match, 99% steel which is IMO the most fun. She shot my Volquartsen-enhanced Ruger MKIII 22/45 and pretty much didn't miss anything all day. She actually shot better than a couple of people in our squad. No issues with safety, taking direction/correction, or malfunction clearances (recent manufactured Federal Champion is about 5% duds, whereas the 10K rounds I went through before the Obamascare was about .001% duds). She impressed everyone and was polite and friendly and didn't complain when she got a bloody pinch to her finger when the ears of the bolt got her. I just absolutely love this girl!

I love it! I was blessed with 3 little girls... who have no interest in shooting. I am still trying to win a couple of them over.

Rightfully one proud dad there. From the smiles on your faces it looks like both of you had a good time.

Life is good! Enjoy the time with your daughter as kids grow up way too fast and before you know it they're away off to college and starting their own adult lives. My kids and I always had a great time whenever we went shooting. Thanks for sharing!

So, what grips are on that Ruger?
Custom made ivory micarta by JP grips. No cutouts for 1911 mag release, etc.

Results posted: she placed 69th out of 105 shooters! Pretty dang good for her first match!

I placed 2nd. *woot* I missed first by 3 seconds to a guy shooting a $4000 Limcat/race holster/etc. I need to sell a kidney and buy one. But I'm out of kidneys. :(

The custom guns in IPSC is why I shot IDPA when I was shooting Comp. We shot stock guns with open sights. I too raised two girls and they like to shoot. My youngest moved to Philly and was gone 3 years before she came home to visit. The first thing that she wanted to eat was venison and the first thing that she wanted to do was shoot a gun. A proud moment in any father's life.

Spend all of the time that you can spare with the youngins. They grow up so fast.

Congratulations Sir on the entire day...

Your daughters first match and she didn't come in last or anywhere near it! She made you proud.
You placed second, great match. You made her proud.

Spending the day together doing something you both like, no one will ever take that day away from you both. I'm smiling and I wasn't even there!!!
