What's the best method for putting a slight bevel on the sharp edges of my 1911? I don't want a melt job, just enough to take the edge off. I planned on using a file to put a 45* cut on the sharp edges. Then, sand paper to smooth it out. I'll be duracoating it upon completion.

Any suggestions on what grit paper to use? Any tips or tricks to doing it?

PS - Feel free to post pictures of your work. Also, I searched for hours and couldn't really find much specific information on doing this at home. Most posts were about sending it to a gunsmith.

My guy uses a very fine file, then a stone. No sandpaper touches his bevels. They are so small as to be hard to spot until the cold blue wears (in cases without overall refinish) but help a lot in handling the gun comfortably.
