I'm debating on which AR I want to build, a 350 Legend with a 20" barrel or a 7.62X39 AR pistol with a 7 1/2" barrel.
With the 350 all I need is the upper and the mags but I'll have to add 350 Legend ammo to my ammo stock. The pistol would require me buying a pistol buffer tube kit and a blade or brace but I have tons of 7.62 ammo and mags.

Both would primarily be for target shooting as I'm not a hunter.
I already have a M&P 15-22 and a 7.62x39 carbine.

Decisions, decisions........

Myself, I don't get the .350 Legend unless you are a hunter and in one of the states (like mine) that insists on straight walled cartridges for deer. And even then, seems like there were already ample choices. But, you can't argue their popularity so I must be missin the point. Never thought of it as a target shooter.

The ammo for the 7.62x39 will no doubt be less expensive, and since you already have a gun in that caliber, less ammo to seek out.

However, as they say, variety is the spice of life. lol
Yup, that's my self debate, variety or existing. The 350 upper would be just under $300 from Bear Creek Arsenal, the 7.62 at $220 also from BCA.

The 350 would be more of a long range target shooter with much less recoil than a 450 Bushmaster.

The .350 legend would make a dandy HD setup and that FMJ LOAD that Winchester makes is under $15 a box I bought a bunch at under $9 a box at the beginning of COVID to me it makes more sense than a 7.62x39 and with a 20 inch barrel you would be getting all of the velocity it can muster I’d reckon a 7.5 inch 7.62 seems like you’d be losing out on a lot of energy and velocity that’s just me though I’m super happy with my legend! Plus you already have a 7.62x39 I’m a firm believer in variety is the spice of life!

I've seen a fair number of videos with people consistently hitting targets with 7.62x39 beyond 200 yards. Paul Harrell did a comparison of 5.56 in a 20", 16" and 10 1/2" barrels, as expected the velocity dropped radically from the 20" to the 10 1/2" but accuracy was equal between the three. Besides I kinda like the pistol "cool" factor...... ;)
However like you though I do like variety....... Maybe do both, one now and the other five or six months from now.

I would go 350 legend. I've seen that ammo pretty consistently over the last several months, plus it looks like an interesting round. I'm actually trying to talk myself out of building one... That $300 upper would end up costing me a lot more by the time I got the mags, dies, bullets, brass, etc.

I'm still trying to talk myself out of both of these.......... So far it's not working.........

Magpul braces or SB Tactical are my go-to braces , however, as for the new weapon… do you like fireballs? And burn your target 10 yards down range? If you do the 7.62x39 is a blast to shoot. But if you are adding a new caliber, I would recommend a 223/556 for plinking.

I already have one in 5.56.

Glad to see you passed on the Legend. I own several myself in different guises but they’re honestly a bridge to (fingers crossed) more sensible future legislation for hunting calibers.

I agree. Unless you're running in brush the 350 is pointless. 35 caliber does very well at close range.

I may have passed for now but I still may build one in the future. Of course many of you all are looking at it from a practicality hunting standpoint, I'm looking at it from a collector/target shooter standpoint.
