I left the hide up above the height of predators and after 5 days I notice that it stinks pretty good and the fat is hard and dark. Also it looks like the hide is about 2/3 it's original size.
Is there any hope for tanning this one?
o.t. but related... my son used a .223 this season and it worked great. We used a 60 gr Partition and got an exit the size of a half dollar or bigger. I was pretty impressed with it's performance.
EDIT: another question, if I put the hide in a solution of Lye, will it eat the fat off of the skin?
