Deer Hunting with a howitzer

Yeah, that's a fun one. :)

From what I've seen of the 75mm black powder cannon, if you aim carefully you can forget about having to do the field dressing. The cannon does that for you! :D

If you could build some kind of terrain funnel you could force the deer into a prescribed range and use shrapnel shells on them. I think that would give you more range than canister, plus you could use smaller balls. :D

Any BATFE rules in regards to these cannons? They look kinda fun. I don't think I would shoot a deer with one, but it would be fun for blasting away.

ATF doesn't regulate black powder muzzle loading cannons. You can roll your own.

I was there when a certain officer shot a deer at Ft. McCoy, Wi, with the main gun of an M60A3 tank. Yup, a 105mm training round.

Nothing but chunks

If you check on Wisconsin's site you will find that he is violating the rules concerning either a hand gun or a shoulder fired weapon, as well as barrel length. The fact he takes the trouble to hide his tracks means he knows he is in violation of the law. Having come into contact with an assortment of ???????s and just general dumb ????s I just don't have the patience for clowns like this. His hunting on private property won't hold water when he kills some one. Sorry to be a downer on the parade and if any of you girls want to rag on me go ahead.

That has got to be the most irresponsible thing I have ever run across in 25+ years of being involved in hunting and shooting sports.

I hate to wish bad things on someone, but if that thing blew up in his face I wouldn't mourn his passing.

And then to publish proof of his stupidity, that is even worse.

We spend so much time fighting for our hunting rights, taking game
only when we can actually eat the meat, etc, and this guy blasts
a deer with a "1 guage" shotgun, totally destroying the carcass and
leaving little if any edible meat.

Where is PETA when you need them........

Did anyone else see the thread about the guys that videotaped themselvs making pipebombs! This guy probably as stupid. He needs to keep his illegal activities to himself.

I'm new here but that doesn't excuse me from using a couple expletives in a previous post, I appoligize to all.

I think we covered this before

I stand by what I said there. Not my thing, but (if it was real) he killed a single deer, somewhat safely in a remarkably humane fashion and ate the meat.

If he'd launched that off into someone else's land I might see a problem but ...

It's the coolest thing I've ever seen as far as hunting goes... :) Not to mention the humor in it!

I hate to wish bad things on someone, but if that thing blew up in his face I wouldn't mourn his passing.

That's not even close to being cool to say. I feel the same about you and your Sig.

And then to publish proof of his stupidity, that is even worse.

What was so stupid about that? I'm not seeing it.

TOTALLY destroying the carcass??? Are you joking? Have you ever even butchered a deer? There are 2 holes that are actually in the meat, both in the neck. Tell me a .375 H&H doesn't make holes that big in a deer neck, and I know at least 2 people who've killed deer with them. Furthermore, I'd be willing to bet he actually ate the meat. Where was your point again?

Where is PETA when you need them........

Do you honestly think that thing suffered?? Did you notice the hole in the shoulder? Did you consider how much more lethal and humane that is than using buckshot, which is still perfectly legal in alot of states? I don't see anything unethical about it. You're probably just jealous you've never thought of anything so cool or had the opportunity to do something like that.

Uh, 'scuse me. Question: "Art, do you really think he really shot that deer with his cannon?"

Art: "No. I think legs are being yanked off to beat folks all over their heads and shoulders."

If you called the guy on it, his response is most likely, "Here's your sign..."

:D, Art
