I've been having a little bit of a tough time finding out much about good places to take the deer I'll hopefully kill in a few weeks for butchering. It looks like Dickman's Meat and Deli, and The Sausage Shop are the only placed listed in the Tucson Phone Book that will process wild game. Dickmans charges $0.60/lb (max charge of $60) for deer, based on hanging weight. The sausage shop charges a flat rate of $65/deer. Both require the deer to be gutted (obviously) and skinned prior to bringing it in. Dickmans also wants the deer quartered.

Are these places worth going to, and what other places in Tucson, Benson, Tombstone, or Bisbee would be recommended?

I don't intend to mount the head, and am planning to get the hide tanned and possibly turned into gloves, slippers, whatever.

Dunno

Guess I'll have to check around and see what I can find. I have a number of a Game Warden I met 2 weeks ago. He gave me some good info on Quail and Deer in 35B so maybe he will know a good place.

I, on the other hand, process my own deer. :D

When's your hunt? If it's not at the same time as mine would you be at all willing to walk me through the process? Let me know your price (and I'll toss in some homebrew if you want on top of that).

Otherwise any info you can drag up will be appreciated.

My hunt is Nov 19-26 down below Arivaca.

Found a few good areas but Im going out on Sunday to scout some other places.

We seen 12 deer at the last place. All does with a couple of yearlings.

Processing fee is free! Its an honor to help you out sumnz.

Just stock up on freezer paper and tape.;)
